Luxury Florida self drive along the famous route A1A from Jacksonville to Miami

15 days

£9999.00

Folder no: 927030

Welcome

Dear Mr Fortress

We are so excited that after so many years of holidays in Orlando you are about to embark on a new adventure in Florida. The itinerary we have put together for you is going to take your breath away.

Florida's State Road A1A is one of the most scenic road trip routes in the nation. It runs along the most eastern border of the state, about as close to the water as you can get.

The views couldn't be better. A1A is a beach-lover's paradise, because it hops from beach to beach. As a bonus, Florida tends to be less expensive than California (except for a few regions near Jupiter Beach), making this beach-hopping car tour both budget-friendly and super laid-back. We have however added a luxury touch for you but some of the best hotels in Florida has to offer.

This is the itinerary that we discussed on the phone. You will see that we have put together a whole array of videos and detail descriptions for each day of your itinerary. If there is anything that you would like to change please let me know and I will update the itinerary accordingly.

Kind regards

Jonny Turquoise

The sand a little softer. The air a little crisper. Come make new memories in Amelia Island, where moments are always a little sweeter.

Destination: Beaches of Amelia Island image
Amelia Island is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, strong-currented Nassau Sound and one of the East’s largest and deepest inlets, Cumberland Sound. Edged with natural Appalachian quartz beaches and framed by sand dunes as high as 40 feet, Amelia Island's shores have long been a source of beauty. And, the ocean's average temperature during the summer? A welcoming 82 degrees. What are you waiting for? Grab your towel and sunscreen and we'll see you on the beach!
Destination: Historic charm and unspoiled beaches image

Though not exactly a secret – it was named one of the top islands in the world by Condé Nast readers – Amelia Island is certainly one of Florida’s lesser-mentioned holiday destinations. Surprising, because this island getaway checks off just about everything on a traveler’s wish list: beaches, history, outdoor recreation, shopping, dining and accommodations fit for families and celebrities alike. And as far as numbers go, Amelia Island racks up 21 kilometers of shoreline, 99 scenic holes of golf, a 50-block historic district, more than 100 outstanding restaurants and a calendar full of festivals.

Destination: Beaches for Families, History and Nature image

The island’s quartz-sand beaches are picture-perfect; meticulously enforced regulations keep them that way. Families tend to congregate at Main Beach, which also offers handicap access and beach wheelchairs; or Fernandina Beach, just steps away from the historic district. Peter’s Point is popular with cyclists looking to access the 10-kilometer Amelia Island Trail. Collect shark’s teeth and shells at Fort Clinch or see the protected dunes on historic American Beach. At the southern end of the island, you can go horseback riding on the beach at Amelia Island State Park. Looking to escape from it all? Try Little Talbot Island State Park. It remains blissfully undeveloped and teems with wildlife and undisturbed natural habitats.

Destination: History Quest image

Amelia Island is one of the state’s most historic locations, claiming many of Florida’s “oldest”: oldest bar, oldest inn, oldest lighthouse and oldest newspaper. The cultural influences of the eight different flags that have flown here since 1562 have seeped into every brick and grain of sand. The Amelia Island Museum of History, housed in the old county jail, offers a comprehensive historical overview, from Timucuan Native Americans to pirates, European settlers, Civil War soldiers and the Victorian elites. From here, take a horse-drawn carriage or walking tour of Fernandina Beach’s 50-block historic district. Watch a living-history demonstration and explore barracks at Fort Clinch State Park. American Beach is the first stop on the Florida Black Heritage Trail; visit the American Beach Museum to learn about this seaside haven for African Americans during the Jim Crow era.

With more than 100 independent restaurants, Amelia Island has your appetite covered. Notable favorites include Southern comfort food at 29 South, wild-caught seafood at Timoti’s Seafood Shak, Spanish and Portuguese specialties at España Restaurant and ultra-high-end dining at Salt, winner of the AAA Five-Diamond Award. You can sample these and many others at discounted rates during Restaurant Week in January. No trip to Amelia Island would be complete without a drink at The Palace Saloon, the oldest bar in Florida. Afterward, browse the historic streets lined with antique shops, boutiques, galleries and pubs.

There are few people on earth that haven't experienced the delights of the United States. For most, these experiences are through film and TV. If you thought the USA was amazing on the small screen, just wait untiul you experience on the biggest screen available!

General Information image

Travelling to the United States of America is not defined by any one holiday type. This country is so vast that a holiday to America can appeal to virtually any taste. From the skyscrapers of metropolis cities like New York & Chicago to the rural ranches that are set over thousands of acres and offer the ultimate seclusion, a holiday to the USA will not disappoint. This country offers ski, theme parks, beaches, history, culture, cuisine, wellness, adventure, cruise, and so much more

Most UK leisure travellers to the country will be heading to Florida and whilst this in itself offers many diverse holiday types, we are passionate about getting people to see the rest of the country. So if you have already been to one the popular destinations like New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston or San Francisco, we would love to talk to you about what else you can do during a US Holiday. Of course, we can incorporate any of the popular US gateways into a custom multi centre American holiday Itinerary.

Explore the colonial past in New England, the captivating French Quarter of New Orleans, the spectacular red rock formations in the vast mythic deserts of the south west, the lush rainforests of the pacific northwest, the towering peals of the Rocky Mountains or the scenic country lanes of quaint towns and villages across the country. From the awe inspiring natural beauty on display in the country’s many national parks to the iconic symbols such as the Hollywood Sign, Golden Gate Bridge and the Statue of liberty- a holiday to America will captivate you and make you want to come back for more over and over again!

There is no one culture that defines the United States of America. This vast country has one of the most diverse populations of any country in the world.

The USA is a country that is built on its immigrant populations. From the European settlers that came 300 years ago to the vast number of latin American migrants that have come into the country over the last 50 years, every destination within the country has its own unique cultures and traditions. Migrants from Asia, Africa and the Middle East all continue to contribute to the ever changing diversity of culture in the country.

The USA use the the United States  Dollar. US Dollars are widely available to buy in the UK and if you shop around, it is possible to buy US Dollar cash notes for your American holiday from a variety of outlets. Bureau De Change units in tourist areas in the UK can sometimes offer decent rates as it is a quick way for them to offload excess dollars. There are also a number of online currency providers that allow you to purchase US Dollars by credit or debit card which will then either be delivered to you or can be collected from local pick up points.

The most cost effective way of buying US Dollars is to open a bank account that offers a debit card with no foreign or non sterling transaction fees. Look out for banks that also offer spot/no margin on the exchange rate. You may also be able to get a prepaid debit card with the same benefits. Both of these options allow you to pay for purchases and withdraw cash from local ATM machines. The banks are cards offering fee free foreign exchange is changing all the time, so you will need to ensure that you check that your card still offers this benefit before you travel.

English is the official language of the United States of America and you will be able to speak with the vast majority of people in this language. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the country with approximately 40 million people fluent or conversant in the langauge.

British Citizens require an ESTA prior to travelling to the USA. The Electronic System for Travel Authorisation applies to all citizens of countries that are eligible to enter the country under the Visa Waiver Programme.

Day 2

After breakfast, head to the marina and to catch the 10:00 a.m. Amelia River Cruise. The cruise takes you along the Cumberland Island Shore and you see wild horses, wild pigs, dolphins, and lots of different birds. After the cruise, grab lunch in town at Patio Place. We recommend one of Amy’s savory crepes! After lunch, you can spend some time wandering through the shops and art galleries of Fernandina Beach’s Historic District. Many visitors rave about Arte’s Pizza. This pizzeria boasts of brick oven-style pizza and shareable salads. It’s also near the Green Turtle Tavern, which many tourists recommend for a couple of beers and live music after dinner.

Amelia Island’s location near the border of both states makes it an easy road trip. But many in the know try to keep quiet about the tucked-away barrier island that’s the size of Manhattan, all the better to have it to themselves. While Amelia Island resides in the Sunshine State, you’ll see more Spanish-moss-draped oak trees than palms. The pace is slow and relaxed— everyone wakes up early to hit the often-uncrowded beaches, and evenings are best spent with sundowners overlooking the water.

Day 3

After breakfast, take a bike ride to Fort Clinch State Park. Along your ride, stop and admire the lighthouse, which is on the highest part of the island across the marsh from the park. Stop at the Fort, wander around the ramparts, and enjoy the breeze and the view. From there, head to the beach for a while and search for seashells and shark’s teeth.

Refuel from your bike ride at First Love Brewing. This local haunt is a great place for locally brewed beer and small bites to hold you until happy hour.

Tonight enjoy a seasonal, farm to table dinner at Burlingame Restaurant located 2 blocks from the inn. Chad, the chef and partner, was trained at the Culinary Institute of America and was a chef at the Amelia Island Ritz Carlton before joining Eric and Deb to create Burlingame. Guests love to dine on the outdoor patio and share a bottle of wine or craft cocktail!

After dinner, take a stroll down to the marina to check out the boats. On the way back, stop at Fernandina’s Fantastic Fudge on 3rd Street. We recommend getting an extra square (or three) of fudge to-go, so you can enjoy it later or bring it back to your family!

The tranquility of an uncrowded beach. The allure of wide open outdoor spaces.
Amelia Island has everything you’re looking for as you plan your much-needed escape.

Choose from a variety of accommodations that put you steps from the BEACH, all welcoming guests and following strict guidelines that protect you and your loved ones. Explore the island’s enchanted rivers, marshes and greenways, and embrace the wonders of NATURE. And when thoughts turn to DINING, indulge in the various flavors served alfresco under a brilliant sky.

Day 4

The Amelia Adventure eco-tour is a private two-hour excursion through the rivers and marshes between Amelia and Cumberland Islands. You can see spoon-billed roseate, alligators, dolphins, egrets, and, if you’re lucky, some manatees. Then, adventure up Beach Creek where you can see the wild horses and chimney tops of the ruins at Dungeness!

After the tour, wander through town for a while and check out some of the art galleries. Enjoy some light, fresh-catch seafood at Timoti’s Seafood Shak.

Looking for something light for dinner? Head over to Café Karibo for dinner. This bistro has the best sandwiches and salads in town! After dinner, wander down to the marina and sit in the rocking chairs at Brett’s Restaurant, where you can enjoy a shared bottle of wine and a sunset over the marsh. Day 5

As the A1A extends south, enjoy a slight detour from the coast as it journeys through Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville beaches to St Augustine. St. Augustine is the oldest continually inhabited city in the United States which is quaint with a lot of charm. Your journey to St Augustine will take about 80 minutes. Depart Amelia Island at 11:30 and arrive in St Augustine by 1pm. After checking in and freshening up, head to explore the Castillo de San Marco is the fort that the Spanish built shortly after settling in St. Augustine. Alternatively, take a ghost tour with the option of walking tours and trolley tours. On the tour, a tour guide will lead you to multiple haunted spots around the city, give you some history (which usually ties in with why it’s supposedly haunted), and then essentially tells you a ghost story. End the day with a walk  down St. George Street which is the most popular street in the area lined with shops,  restaurants, ice cream parlours and souvenir shops. Its a great place for lunch or dinner.

Day 6

Your first stop today is at the Old Jail, the History Museum, the Oldest Store Museum Experience and Gator Bob’s Trading Post. If you have kids or even if you don’t, hop off and take the 30 minutes to enjoy the Tour of the Old Jail. It’s a fun and entertaining look at this historic jail that was built in 1891 and the deputies and the sheriff make it even more amusing.

Entrance to the St. Augustine History Museum is free with an Old Town Trolley ticket, so take a look around; you’ll only need a little time to see the cool artefacts and unpublished photographs from the city’s past.

After lunch head to The Churches of St. Augustine. Visit the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church; Henry Flagler, his daughter, and first wife are buried there. You’ll also able to view the Ancient City Baptist Church and the Grace United Methodist Church – all stunning icons. Also close to stop #8 is probably the most famous attraction in the city, Flagler College. You’ll enjoy spending the early afternoon between these St. Augustine attractions and then finish your day where the San Sebastian Winery and Whetstones Chocolate Factory are located. What better way to end the day than with a nice glass of wine and some homemade chocolate to top it off!

Day 7

After a leisurely breakfast, check out at 11:30am and start your drive to Daytona Beach. The journey only takes 75 minutes at this time if you are driving at a normal pace, but it will take you longer because you will want to take it slow and enjoy the experience. If you haven’t ridden the stretch of A1A south from St. Augustine to Daytona Beach you haven't lived! There are many sites to see in the 50-some miles but the standout is the Atlantic Ocean. A1A largely hugs the coast and you’ll be just about 10 feet above sea level as you pass Anastasia State Park Fort Matanzas Marineland the iconic Pier in Flagler Beach and mile after mile of oceanfront cruising. This is a rare experience and the sight of the ocean and sound of the engine is pure gold.

This afternoon will be an opportunity to enjoy your resort and the beach.

Day 8

Jump-start your morning with cinnamon rolls, and biscuits and gravy, at Mike’s Galley Restaurant and Donut Shoppe before heading to Daytona International Speedway. Even if you don’t know a checkered flag from a chassis, it’s worth a visit to the city’s most famous attraction. The basic 30-minute tour includes an open-air tram ride along the track, a photo op at the winner’s podium and a visit to the new Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.

For lunch, head to Don Vito’s Italian Restaurant, a family-friendly spot with killer fried ravioli and pizza rolls.

Next, as you’re visiting between April and August, you could swing by Jackie Robinson Ballpark to catch the minor-league Daytona Tortugas in action. Anytime of year, you’ll find something to please everyone at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, which is like an art museum, kid-friendly science center, planetarium and historic home and in one.

Ann alternative option would be to drive about 6 miles up A1A for a stroll along the Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier. Ride the Ferris wheel, watch street performers and bring plenty of quarters for the arcade. For dinner, grab a few slices from Pizza King, and save room for saltwater taffy from Zeno’s Boardwalk Sweet Shop for a sweet ending to your second day in Daytona Beach.

Day 9

You are departing today for Melbourne which is a 90 minute drive from Daytona Beach. Your journey will take a little longer however as you will be passing by Kennedy Space Centre. You need to carve out at least a half-day for the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex where you can get up close to the space shuttle Atlantis, ride a flight simulator and so much more. Stay for Lunch with an Astronaut, a dinner-theater-like buffet meal during which someone who’s flown in space shares stories and answers audience questions. For kids in particular, this is (literally) an out-of-this-world opportunity.

Depart your hotel at 10:00am and arrive at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at 11:15. You will be here until about 4:30pm. Melbourne is about a one hour drive from the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a leisurely evening.

Day 10

One of the most popular things to do is explore the historic downtown area and Melbourne has one of the best. East New Haven is a long street with several offshoots that up the ante for even more things to see and do and places to eat and drink. The murals are divine in this part of town, and parking is relatively easy to find.

Melbourne’s Eau Gallie District is home to outstanding artist instalments, seven galleries, and many great shops and restaurants. The murals are especially noteworthy in this part of town. While in Eau Gallie, you can’t miss a slice of homemade pie from Joan’s Perfect Pie Shop. Check out the cool square heads (maybe LEGOS) mural littered with celebrities and famous names.

Grab a French pastry or macarons from Jacqueline’s Bakery & Cafe, sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. The coffee and tea from 905 Cafe are excellent or try a cold brew kegged coffee from nearby Bagel 13. One thing you can’t miss in Melbourne is chocolate-covered potato chips from Grimaldi Candies, who, for all I know, might be the first ones making this salty and sweet treat. I’ve been buying them there (in various chocolate flavours such as milk, white, dark) for a decade. They also made chocolate dipped citrus strips because you are in the citrus capital of the country.

Day 11

Melbourne has beautiful beaches that should not be missed, ones that surfers flock to for catching the perfect wave, and beginner lessons. Many world-famous surfing competitions are held here, two of which I have witnessed just by chance. Quaint surf shops line the street running parallel to the ocean, where you can buy swimsuits, sand toys, floats, sunscreen, and the beloved hermit crab. Longboard House has the most well-known name for your beach and surf gear.

Start your day exploring the beaches. Grab some lunch and then start your 95 minute drive to West Palm Beach. When you arrive at your hotel, you will not be in the mood for doing much except for relaxing in this luxurious resort for the rest of the evening.

Day 13

Your last destination on the A1A fly drive itinerary is Miami. You will want to get there early as you only have just over 48 hours in this world famous city! The drive is just over 90 minutes so if you leave by 10:30 you should be in Miami by noon. Check in to your hotel on the famous South Beach and head straight back out again on foot for lunch! Stroll around the Art Deco Historic District, an architectural favourite for visitors to South Beach before arriving for some authentic Cuban cuisine at Havana 1957.

Nothing works up an appetite like a full day on the beach (or above it). Grab a seat at CVI.CHE 105 for a traditional Peruvian dinner. This restaurant is consistently rated as one of the best options in Miami, a high honor for such a culinary hotspot. You will agree with the critics as soon as you take your first bite.

Any trip to Florida is not complete without a peek at Miami’s grand array of attractions. When most people think of Miami, the first thing that comes to mind is the spectacular beaches. But there’s a lot more to Florida’s party city than its amazing white sand and crystal blue waters. A vibrant, energetic city all year round, Miami boasts beautiful parks, gardens, spots to unwind and places to rave it up.

Recognized as the gateway to Latin America, Miami has a large Latin American population that adds to its vibrancy. From art to food and a whole lot more in between, Miami has a lot to offer tourists. Whether you love to party all night or explore day-time attractions, Miami, the south-eastern coastal city of Florida on the Atlantic offers plenty of interesting activities for visitors. Home to world-renowned beaches, museums and nightclubs, Miami ensures that its visitors experience moments they will carry with them for a lifetime.

Destination: Architectural Jewel Box image
Even if there was no beach, Miami would still have undeniable allure. The gorgeous 1930s hotels lining Ocean Dr are part of the world’s greatest collection of art deco buildings. Tropical motifs, whimsical nautical elements and those iconic pastel shades create a cinematic backdrop for exploring the streets of Miami Beach. Of course, you don’t have to see these architectural beauties at arm’s length. Lavishly restored, Miami’s art deco and mid-century modern hotels are also the playground for locals and out-of-towners alike, with sunny poolside terraces, artfully designed dining rooms and plush nightclubs.
Destination: Creativity, Miami Style image
Chalk it up to Miami’s diverse population, or perhaps its love of always being on the cutting edge. Whatever the reason, creativity is one of the great hallmarks of this city. From art and design to global cuisine, Miami remains ever on the search for bold new ideas, which manifest themselves in surprising ways. You’ll find brilliantly inventive chefs blending Eastern and Western cooking styles, sustainably designed buildings inspired by South Florida ecosystems and open-air galleries where museum-quality artwork covers once-derelict warehouses. The one constant in Miami is its uncanny ability to astonish.
Destination: Nights in the City image
When the sun sets and the brilliant colors of a South Florida sunset fill the sky, that’s when the best part of the day begins for Miami’s party people. By moonlight, all the magic of the city unfolds, in its salsa-filled dance halls, swanky candlelit lounges, and rooftop bars with sweeping views over Biscayne Bay and the glittering city skyline. While there’s plenty of bling on display, Miami has something for all, from backyard bars full of indie rockers to hidden dens of debauchery concealed behind neon-lit taco stands.
Destination: The Great Outdoors image
Few cities are as blessed as Miami when it comes to natural beauty. White sandy beaches are lapped by teal waters – perfect for sunrise strolls along peaceful stretches of Mid-Beach to scenic paddles in search of manatees off Virginia Key. You can look for colorful bird species while walking the trails of Oleta River State Park, or go to any of the tropical gardens across the city. With year-round sunshine, and a love for celebration, the open air is also where Miami’s biggest parties unfold – whether at massive music and dance festivals or the neighborhood fiestas that pack Miami’s calendar.

The perfect time for Miami holidays is between the months of March and May. At this time, visitors can enjoy daily temperatures that range in the mid 20’s, while the remainder of the country persists in the defrosting phase.

This year-round tropical climate and the party atmosphere of Miami Beach close by means there are many tourists from the states in the north, South America, Asia, Europe and everywhere else, the whole year round. And during special events and festivals, Miami experiences even more tourists. For a different experience, plan your visit to Miami around the city-wide events or during the sweltering months of summer.

Located at the mouth of the Miami River on the lower east coast of Florida, Miami is bordered on the east by Biscayne Bay, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean. Further east, the islands of Key Biscayne and Miami Beach shelter the bay from the Atlantic Ocean, thus providing Miami with a naturally protected harbor. Once pine and palmetto flatlands, the Miami area boasts sandy beaches in its coastal areas and gives way to sparsely wooded outlying areas. A man-made canal connects the city to Lake Okeechobee, located 90 miles northwest of Miami.

Miami's year-round semi-tropical climate is free of extremes in temperature, with a long, warm summer and abundant rainfall followed by a mild, dry winter. Summer humidity levels—usually in the 86 to 89 percent range during the day—make Miami the second most humid city in the United States. Hurricanes occasionally affect the area in September and October; tornadoes are rare. Waterspouts are sometimes sighted from the beaches in the summer, but significant damage seldom occurs.

Area: 36 square miles (2000)

Elevation: 12 feet above sea level

The streets of Miami Beach are lined with high-end dining establishments teeming with the smells of Peruvian, Cuban, Caribbean, Asian and American cuisine – sometimes all at once. What other cities call "fusion" has a name of its own in Miami Beach: "Floribbean." Prepare to be impressed with its taste and the relatively cheap prices. The South Beach area does have its share of moderately priced eateries, but the most affordable options are tucked away on the side streets. When it comes to meals, some signature Miami Beach dishes visitors should try include stone crab, ceviche, empanadas, Cuban pork sandwiches and pastelitos (pastries filled with sweet or savory fillings).

In Miami, the summers are hot, oppressive, wet, and mostly cloudy and the winters are short, comfortable, humid, windy, and mostly clear. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 17°C to 32°C and is rarely below 10°C or above 33°C. Based on the tourism score, the best time of year to visit Miami for warm-weather activities is from early November to late April.

The hot season lasts for 3.8 months, from 5 June to 30 September, with an average daily high temperature above 30°C. The hottest day of the year is 9 August, with an average high of 32°C and low of 26°C. The cool season lasts for 3.0 months, from 6 December to 6 March, with an average daily high temperature below 26°C. The coldest day of the year is 17 January, with an average low of 17°C and high of 24°C.

With year-round sunshine, Miami is always beckoning beach goers, party animals, and art aficionados. Use these packing list ideas for Miami as a launching point for packing for your trip. When deciding what to wear in Miami, keep in mind that the temperatures are hot and the style is even hotter. This is the place to wear your most glamorous and daring ensembles.

Risque cut outs and bodycon dresses are commonplace here, even for daywear. This sensual style is largely due to the large Latinx community that lives here and has a zest for living life colorfully and embracing each moment as an opportunity to celebrate with music, dance, and delicious cuisine.

If revealing clothes aren’t your style, don’t fret. Just keep in mind that the brighter your outfits are, the more you’ll fit in. Miami is one of the many fashion hubs in the United States, especially for swimwear and beach style, so you’re likely to come across many emerging trends.

Unlike other coastal cities, bohemian style is not the go-to for locals who are anything but boho or hippies. The most important thing when creating your travel capsule wardrobe for Miami is to stay true to your own unique sense of dress and to have fun with what you’re wearing!

When planning what to pack, remember that year-round temperatures in the subtropical climate tend to stay above 75°F.  Rain is possible during all seasons, so definitely pack a small umbrella that can easily be tossed into your day bag.

DESTINATION

Any trip to Florida is not complete without a peek at Miami’s grand array of attractions. When most people think of Miami, the first thing that comes to mind is the spectacular beaches. But there’s a lot more to Florida’s party city than its amazing white sand and crystal blue waters. A vibrant, energetic city all year round, Miami boasts beautiful parks, gardens, spots to unwind and places to rave it up.

Day 15

Although you will be leaving Miami today, your flight is not until the evening, so there is still plenty of time to enjoy this world famous destination. Start the day with a relaxed breakfast at the iconic News Café which has since 1988 been ‘the‘ place in South Beach for breakfast and people watching. Enjoy the rest of the morning enjoying the resort facilities or some time on the beach.

As an alternative, you could go on a Speedboat Sightseeing Tour of Miami at 11am. The tour lasts about 45 minutes.

After checking out of the hotel, head to the Miami Design District. This budding neighbourhood is filled with high-end shopping, galleries, and photo-worthy buildings and sculptures at every corner. (The Fuller Fly’s Eye Dome is a favorite.) The Institute of Contemporary Art Miami is also in this neighbourhood if the city’s abundant public art is making you crave more. Next door to Miami Design District is Wynwood, a neighbourhood with a much different feel. Here you’ll find larger than life murals and street art that locals and tourists alike flock to see. The famous Wynwood Walls features murals from artists all over the world and once again offers up a great selfie opportunity. Best of all admission is free! Wynwood is also home to Miami’s oldest gallery Locust Projects, which opened in 1998.

Your flight departs at 18:40 and you should be at the airport by 16:00. Wynwood is a 20 minute drive from the airport and so you should be thinking about leaving by 15:30.
